Conflict of Interest Guidelines

Elektron does not accept commercial advertising. The editorial team formally declares and registers potential competing interests on the journal's website to ensure transparency within the editorial system.

A conflict of interest (COI) arises when secondary factors may bias the primary interest (scientific integrity and publication). COIs can be financial or non-financial, professional or personal. Disclosing a COI does not imply scientific misconduct; however, failure to disclose may lead to the immediate rejection of the manuscript.

Who must disclose?

  • Authors: Must declare all funding sources and any financial or personal interests within the last 5 years. If no conflicts exist, they must state: "The authors declare no conflicts of interest regarding this manuscript."

  • Editors and Reviewers: Must recuse themselves from managing or reviewing manuscripts where a conflict exists (e.g., same institution, recent collaboration, or personal ties).

  • Readers: Anyone commenting on a published article must also disclose potential COIs.
